ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY Writer Gary Whitta Would Really Like to Make a STAR FOX Animated Film

There's no denying that the Star Fox series has seen better days, but at least one person on this planet would like to restore its former glory — and if that person is a co-writer of Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, then the situation gets a whole lot more interesting.
Writer Gary Whitta — the artist we're talking about — is a big fan of video games, as he helped Telltale Games shape the main story of The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: 400 Days and The Walking Dead: The Final Season.
In response to Raf Grassetti's wonderful Star Fox art, Whitta wrote on Twitter: "I want to write this animated movie." Given that he has a history of writing for both games and movies, his Star Fox would definitely be worth a closer look — and the experience Whitta gained working on Rogue One could significantly impact the production.
As a reminder, Fox McCloud is playable in the Switch version of Ubisoft Toronto's Starlink: Battle for Atlas.
Unfortunately, Nintendo doesn't have any official plans to continue the once-popular Star Fox game series — and their only upcoming video game movie is Illumination's adaptation of Super Mario Bros.
