Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is finally coming to Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One at the end of the month, giving console players the chance to check out one of the best-reviewed role-playing games of the last decade.
While Obsidian Entertainment's answer to Planescape: Torment originally launched on PC in May 2018, it took the developer nearly two years to bring it to other gaming platforms — fortunately, Deadfire's console port will be released in the vastly improved Ultimate Edition.
Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire - Ultimate Edition features "all the major updates and expansions available for the PC version. In addition to the game’s vast main campaign players can heed the call of Vatnir in the Beast of Winter or face the challenges of the Crucible of Kazuwari in Seeker, Slayer, Survivor or battle their way through the bowels of a vengeful [...] god in the Forgotten Sanctum."
As a reminder, Obsidian Entertainment is no longer an independent studio, so it's safe to say that Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire and The Outer Worlds are the last two video games made by the Microsoft-owned developer available for Sony and Nintendo's consoles.
Publisher Versus Evil has released a launch trailer for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, so check it out right now:
Pursue a rogue god over land and sea in the sequel to the multi-award-winning RPG Pillars of Eternity. Captain your ship on a dangerous voyage of discovery across the vast unexplored archipelago region of the Deadfire. Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire is currently available on PC (via Steam, Origin and GOG), coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch on January 28, 2020.
