A Movie Based on CONTROL Is Something ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY's Gary Whitta Would Like to Tackle
Influenced by David Lynch's cinema work and Brutalist architecture, Control was one of the most unique and original video games of 2019 — and Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Gary Whitta would really like to bring it to the big screen.
During a recent chat with a fan of Twitter, Whitta revealed that Control would make a great movie — and he would even write the adaptation's script, if given the chance. Quite interestingly, Communications Director at Remedy Thomas Puha instantly responded to Whitta's Tweet with a simple "Let's talk" — and that's it when it comes the public part of their conversation.
As a reminder, the last feature film based on a Remedy Entertainment IP — 2008's Max Payne with Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis in the lead roles — turned out to be a major letdown and flop at the box office.
Control isn't even the first video game movie Whitta would like to tackle in the future, as the artist recently announced that making a Star Fox animated flick would be a dream come true — but Nintendo seems to be currently focused exclusively on Illumination's animated version of Super Mario Bros.
At the time of writing, Remedy Entertainment had not revealed any official plans to make a Control movie.
