DOOM: ETERNAL Looks Bloody Good in New Footage; A Developer Believes It's id Software's Best Game

While almost every other video game is being pushed back by at least a couple of months, nothing stops the id-Software-created DOOM: Eternal, as the highly anticipated first-person shooter is still on track for launch in March 2020.

While the mortals are still waiting for their chance to play Eternal, some of the biggest gaming outlets on Earth recently descended into the game's newest hellscape to examine the title's latest build — and you can take a look at their impressions from playing a big chunk of the next DOOM in the videos down below.

The brand-new gameplay footage suggests that Eternal will live up to the high expectations with ease — as its critically acclaimed predecessor was one of the biggest positive surprises of 2016.

Actually, according to Lead Engine Programmer at id Software Billy Khan, DOOM: Eternal won't be just a fine, or even good game — it's going to be pure fire. "DOOM Eternal is the best game we have ever made. It is brilliant. I cannot wait for everyone to finally play it. It runs butter smooth. The combat is fluid as silk. idTech7 is pushing so much geometric detail. The image quality is bonkers," Khan said on Twitter.

Thankfully, it doesn't sound like Bethesda has any plans to delay the gruesome production once again, so March is going to be one hell of a month (in the positive sense of the word [if that's possible]). Check it out:

As the DOOM Slayer, you return to find Earth has suffered a demonic invasion. Raze Hell and discover the Slayer’s origins and his enduring mission to rip and tear…until it is done. Experience the ultimate combination of speed and power as you battle your way across dimensions with the next leap in push-forward, first-person combat.

DOOM: ETERNAL will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC (via Steam) on the 20th of March; coming to Nintendo Switch at a later date.
