BLADE RUNNER 2049 Composer Benjamin Wallfisch Will Score the Upcoming MORTAL KOMBAT Reboot
Composer Benjamin Wallfisch — whose music you might have heard in Shazam!, Blade Runner 2049, It or A Cure for Wellness — has reportedly been hired by Warner Bros. to score Simon McQuoid's reboot of the Mortal Kombat movie series.
Given that McQuoid and his crew are already shooting the movie in Australia, we should learn new details on the flick in the coming months, most definitely during San Diego Comic-Con in July, if not sooner.
The movie's script was penned by Greg Russo (who's also developing the Resident Evil reboot for Constantin Films). Although James Wan (Aquaman, Furious Seven) is no longer producing the aforementioned horror production, he's still attached to the movie reboot of NetherRealm Studios' popular game series.
Mortal Kombat's starring Hiroyuki Sanada as Scorpion, Joe Taslim as Sub-Zero, Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Jessica Mcnamee as Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson as Kano, Max Huang as Kung Lao, Sisi Stringer as Mileena and Chin Han as Shang Tsung.
WB. is also developing an animated movie based on NetherRealm's hit franchise, titled Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion's Revenge. The Ethan Spaulding-directed flick will debut in the first half of 2020.
Mortal Kombat is coming to theatres on January 15, 2021.
