According to Saints Row Writer Greg Russo, the video game movie could be the first entry in "the next insane" film series, and the artist is hoping to share more news on the Fenix Studios, Koch Media and Occupant Entertainment–produced flick soon.
Recently asked by a fan about the state of Saints Row on Twitter, Russo revealed that he "had a great writing session yesterday with the master, F. Gary Gray. We want to make Saints the next insane film franchise. LOT of love going into this. Hopefully more news soon...it's a good time to be a Saints fan."
Russo definitely is one busy writer, as he's responsible not only for the screenplays for the Mortal Kombat and Resident Evil movie reboots, but also two other video game movies based on Monolith Productions' F.E.A.R. and even... Tomohiro Nishikado's Space Invaders.
When it comes to the movie's director, F. Gary Gray previously helmed Straight Outta Compton, The Fate of the Furious, and more recently Men In Black: International.
During last year's interview with Comic Book, Russo teased that his take on the franchise would be "off the wall," inspired by Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service & John Carpenter's Escape from New York.
As a reminder, the Nintendo Switch edition of Saints Row: IV - Re-Elected will arrive on the console on the 27th of March, with the next instalment in the Volition's game series being revealed at some point this year.
