Ubisoft Is Working on an Unannounced AAA VR Project Based on One of the Publisher's "Greatest IPs"
Ubisoft Düsseldorf is officially building a new team that will be responsible for bringing the German studio's first big-budget VR title to life — and said virtual reality video game will be based on one of the publisher's biggest franchises.
According to a new job listing posted on Indeed, Ubisoft Düsseldorf is getting ready to start working on on an "unannounced AAA VR project," so it's safe to say that the production won't debut anytime soon.
"You will work on cutting-edge VR technology, on one of Ubisoft’s greatest IP’s which will be developed across multiple studios. Join us today to shape the future of VR," the listing says, confirming that it will be a VR-exclusive game.
As a reminder, Facebook and Ubisoft are reportedly co-producing a VR title set in the Splinter Cell universe.
Considering that Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Blacklist Creative Director Maxime Béland recently returned to Ubisoft's central editorial team, there's a small chance that Ubisoft is indeed planning to revive the long-gone video game series at some point in the future — even if we're talking about an original VR project.
