GHOST RECON: BREAKPOINT's New “Immersive Mode” Has Been Delayed at the Last Minute
In an unexpected turn of events, Ubisoft has just announced that the open-world game's long-awaited title update — that will introduce players to the so-called immersive mode, among other major changes — won't be released anytime soon.
While said update was supposed to launch this month, the studio recently decided to delay its release.
"The complexity of integrating this new mode has proven to be a challenge and we want to ensure that the experience will be a great one when it releases," Ubisoft officially announced. "The immersive mode will still release this Spring, we’ll share more firm timing as soon as we are able."
Considering that we still know next to nothing about the aforementioned mode, it comes as no surprise that Ubisoft will share more details on the feature on March 5. The mode's name suggests that the developer will make some major changes to the game's HUD and its core gameplay mechanics, possibly improving the already existing stealth systems and marginalising its generally unnecessary looter shooter–like elements.
"We understand that you have been requesting more transparent communication and we aim to provide this whenever possible. There are a lot of moving parts in development which has made locking in dates challenging so we haven’t been able to communicate as much as we would have liked. We apologize for that and will be providing details on these upcoming additions starting early next month," the studio concluded.
Taking into account that Ubisoft has been actively trying to fix Breakpoint since its catastrophically bad launch, chances are that the new mode will finally make fans of GR: Wildlands at least a little bit happy.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is a military shooter set in a diverse, hostile, and mysterious open world that you can play entirely solo or in four-player co-op. Injured, without support, and hunted down by ex-Ghosts, you must fight to survive while lost in Auroa. Choose the right alliances and decide how to take down your toughest enemy.
Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Breakpoint is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Google Stadia and PC (via Uplay, Origin and the Epic Games Store).
