DESPERADO Star Antonio Banderas Joins Ruben Fleischer's Upcoming Movie Based on UNCHARTED

Ruben Fleischer, the helmer of 2013's Gangster Squad, 2018's Venom and last year's Zombieland: Double Tap, will officially direct the long-delayed video game movie based on Naughty Dog's beloved Uncharted series for Sony.

According to Variety, Antonio Banderas (The Mask of Zorro, Pain and Glory), Sophia Ali (Truth or Dare, Grey's Anatomy) and Tati Gabrielle (The 100, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina) will star in Uncharted, alongside Tom Holland and Mark Wahlberg, who will portray Nathan Drake and Victor "Sully" Sullivan, respectively.

Unfortunately, no concrete details on the aforementioned trio's Uncharted characters have been provided.

As a reminder, the latest draft of the troubled movie's screenplay was written by Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s Rafe Judkins, with the help of Art Marcum and Matt Holloway (Iron Man, Transformers: The Last Knight). Sony's upcoming Morbius — which was also co-written by the duo — will be released in the US on July 31, 2020.

The Avi Arad-produced prequel will reportedly start filming next month in Spain and Germany, with Cinematographer Chung Hoon-Chung (The Current War, Last Night in Soho) joining the production crew.
