The First Teaser Trailer for Paul W. S. Anderson's MONSTER HUNTER Movie Has Leaked Online

With Monster Hunter releasing on the 4th of September — as long as it's not delayed amid the coronavirus outbreak — we finally have our first look at the upcoming movie based on Capcom's hit series, even if it hasn't been officially published yet.

It looks like a short teaser trailer for Monster Hunter is played ahead of selected movies in Japan. Apparently, the very same video was showcased by Sony at the 23rd Shanghai International Film Festival in June 2019.

Thanks to Twitter user Kogath, we also have the chance to check out said footage. The picture quality of the leaked teaser is good enough to give us our best look yet at the titular monster hunters — Milla Jovovich's Lieutenant Artemis and Tony Jaa's... Hunter — bravely battling some enormous desert creatures.

The teaser also features some fun snippets of never-before-seen footage including Ron Perlman (Hellboy, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) and Hirona Yamazaki (Labyrinth of Cinema) using fire-based spells.

Considering that Monster Hunter is helmed by Paul W. S. Anderson (Resident Evil, Mortal Kombat), it's safe to say that the flick won't be anything to write home about (unlike Wes Anderson's The French Dispatch).

Although the footage should be released by Sony soon, you can take a look at Monster Hunter right now:

Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.

Sony Pictures will release Monster Hunter on September 4, 2020.
