RESIDENT EVIL 3: REMAKE Art Director Explains Why Jill Valentine's Original Suit Has Been Changed
Back in the '90s, almost every major video game featured scantily clad girls, and while Capcom's highly anticipated Resident Evil 3 is based on the 1999 original, the reimagined Jill Valentine will definitely be more realistic this time around.
In the latest issue of Game Informer, Resident Evil 3 Art Director Yonghee Cho has talked in detail about why fans shouldn't expect to see exposed cleavages and leather jackboots in the fast-approaching title.
"There were a lot of discussions internally about that direction," Cho told Game Informer. "The original design of Jill Valentine was clearly going for sex appeal, but that was not the right direction."
"This is a very strong character, and it is a character that's going through a lot of adversity, so we wanted to home in on that and make sure that there's a certain level of believability in what she's wearing, a certain level of practicality," the art director concluded.
Considering that Claire Redfield and Ada Wong's new looks were two of the most praised aspects of 2019's Resident Evil 2, the decision to change Jill's old design will surely appeal to fans of the video game series.
Those disappointed with the remake's direction can always pre-order the game to get the "Classic Costume Pack" skins, which include the original Jill Valentine and Carlos Oliveira designs as optional costumes.
As a reminder, the game's "Raccoon City" demo is available now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
