SONIC THE HEDGEHOG Will Arrive On Digital at the End of the Month Due to Coronavirus Outbreak

Paramount Pictures has announced that Sonic the Hedgehog will be available to buy digitally later this month — which means that you will be able to enjoy the most successful video game movie in history in the comfort of your home very soon.

According to Variety, Jeff Fowler's Sonic the Hedgehog will be released on digital platforms on March 31.

Although Sonic the Hedgehog's run in the US will officially end only 46 days after its initial launch in theatres — due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic — the beloved blue speedster has nothing to be ashamed of.

During his big-screen debut, Sonic the Hedgehog became not only the first video game movie to earn a rare "A" CinemaScore, but also the indisputable king of the box office (at least when it comes to movies based on games), even beating Pokémon Detective Pikachu's record opening weekend of $54 million.

Sadly, there's no word on what the plan is for an international rollout, Still, Sonic managed to exceed all the box-office expectations, and it's safe to say that the movie will perform well on digital platforms.

Based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega, SONIC THE HEDGEHOG tells the story of the world’s speediest hedgehog as he embraces his new home on Earth. In this live-action adventure comedy, Sonic and his new best friend Tom (James Marsden) team up to defend the planet from the evil genius Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) and his plans for world domination. The family-friendly film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

Sonic the Hedgehog will be available to buy digitally on March 31, 2020.
