Publisher 1C Entertainment has released the second entry in the King's Bounty II dev diary series, shedding a new light on the beloved franchise's humble beginnings in 1990, going through the acclaimed soft reboot and all the way to this year's instalment.
Considering that Ubisoft has no plans to make any new Heroes of Might and Magic games — as the series original creators from New World Computing were also responsible for the very first King's Bounty — fans of classic turn-based strategy games should be more than happy that King's Bounty 2 will hit stores in 2020.
Unlike The Legend, the sequel won't be a traditional strategy game, as the studio will try to revolutionise the franchise's core gameplay mechanics. According to the developers, King's Bounty II will feature "a whole new, non-linear narrative and deep RPG mechanics that give weight to your every decision."
Introducing an over-the-shoulder camera that's more similar to modern RPGs than the old King's Bounty games, the title will push the series in a more Skyrim-like direction. That's right, King's Bounty II will tell a non-linear story, constantly asking players to make moral choices and align themselves with different ideals.

King's Bounty 2 is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam) in 2020.
