Square Enix has released two never-before-seen behind-the-scenes-videos for the fast-approaching Final Fantasy VII Remake, shedding some light on the reimagined characters, brand-new story beats, relentless action and combat mechanics. Considering that the long-delayed jRPG finally releases on the 10th of April — only on PlayStation 4 — watching these featurettes is a great way to prepare for the impending launch.
As a reminder, the worldwide release of the remake will be affected by the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, as Square Enix will ship physical copies of the all-new title early to the European and Australian markets.
The videos feature interviews with award-winning developers, including Producer Yoshinori Kitase, Co-Directors Naoki Hamaguchi and Motomu Toriyama, Battle Director Teruki Endo, Writer Kazushige Nojima, and Lead Battle Designers Kosuke Sakane and Tomotaka Shiroichi. If you haven't seen the Episode 1: Introduction yet, be sure to give it a watch, as it features fascinating details on the upcoming remake.
In other Final Fantasy VII Remake–related news, the full review embargo for the Square Enix–developed game will reportedly be lifted on April 6, at 3 AM Pacific Time; at least according to its OpenCritic page.
Without further ado, take a closer look at Final Fantasy VII Remake in the action-packed videos down below:
The world has fallen under the control of the Shinra Electric Power Company, a shadowy corporation controlling the planet’s very life force as mako energy. In the sprawling city of Midgar, an anti-Shinra organization calling themselves Avalanche have stepped up their resistance. Cloud Strife, a former member of Shinra’s elite SOLDIER unit now turned mercenary, lends his aid to the group, unaware of the epic consequences that await him. The story of this first, standalone game in the FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE project covers up to the party’s escape from Midgar, and goes deeper into the events occurring in Midgar than the original FINAL FANTASY VII.
Final Fantasy VII: Remake is coming to PlayStation 4 on April 10, 2020.
