ELITE DANGEROUS Developers Are Working on WARHAMMER AGE OF SIGMAR Real-Time Strategy
Frontier Developments — the renowned makers of Elite Dangerous, Jurassic World Evolution and Planet Zoo — are developing a multi-platform real-time strategy game set in the ever-evolving universe of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. Unfortunately for fans, the recently announced production won't be released anytime soon.
According to a recent investor relations note, Frontier Developments' original take on the Warhammer Age of Sigmar lore will make its debut during the British company's fiscal year 2023, ending May 31, 2023.
Furthermore, the Warhammer Age of Sigmar RTS is coming not only to PC, but also "console and streaming platforms," which suggests that it will be available on Xbox Series X, PlayStation 5, PC, and Google Stadia.
Quite surprisingly, Frontier is planning to self-publish their first Warhammer Age of Sigmar production. "We are delighted to announce this licence with Games Workshop. I personally think it's great news that two such well-established and world-class creative UK companies with global reach are collaborating on a new project," Frontier's Chief Executive David Braben said. "We look forward to working closely with the team at Games Workshop to bring the rich world of Warhammer Age of Sigmar to a wide audience through an immersive and accessible real-time strategy game on both PC and console."
"This will be the first RTS set in the epic fantasy world of the Age of Sigmar, which is the kind of game that Warhammer and strategy fans have been clamouring for," Global Head of Licensing at Games Workshop Jon Gillard added. "We know that the team at Frontier are the perfect people to take on that great responsibility and do it justice."
As a friendly reminder, Frontier's Warhammer Age of Sigmar is not the only Warhammer RTS currently in the works, as Creative Assembly has been developing Total War: Warhammer III since 2018 (at the very least).
