Giger-Esque SCORN Returns in All Its Creepy Glory as Horror Is Coming to Xbox Series X and PC

Ebb Software's Scorn — which has been in development since 2014 — made a glorious return at yesterday's Inside Xbox with a never-before-seen gameplay trailer, showcasing its deliciously dreadful environments and central figures. Fans of the production should be happy to hear that it's a full-blown next-gen project now.

The long-delayed horror game is officially coming to Xbox Series X and PC, but it doesn't have a release date yet. According to the independent Serbian developer, Scorn is "a first-person horror adventure game designed around the idea of being thrown into the world. As players explore the dream-like world in a non-linear fashion, they will [...] learn that every location has its own story, puzzles, and characters – even the unsettling environment is a character itself. The team has drawn visual inspiration from Swiss painter H.R. Giger and Polish painter Zdzislaw Beksinski. Conceptual inspiration has come from works by unique writers like Franz Kafka and Jorge Luis Borges, horror and sci-fi writers like Thomas Ligotti and J.G. Ballard, and the weird cinema of David Cronenberg and David Lynch."

As a reminder, Scorn was not the only Beksinski-esque game spotlighted during yesterday's Inside Xbox event, as Bloober Team's The Medium is also drawing inspiration from the Polish painter's unsettling art.

Scorn will be available for Xbox One and PC via Xbox Game Pass, so you will be able to play it as much as you want for a month for $9.99 (or a mere $1 if you haven't given the subscription service a chance yet).

Without further ado, take a closer look at the terrifying world of Scorn in its brand-new trailer down below:

Scorn is an atmospheric first-person horror adventure game set in a nightmarish universe of odd forms and somber tapestry. It is designed around the idea of "being thrown into the world". Isolated and lost inside this dream-like world, you will explore different interconnected regions in a non-linear fashion. The unsettling environment is a character itself.

Scorn is coming to Xbox Series X and PC (via Steam and the Microsoft Store).
