After months of teasing a new entry in the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, the legendary skateboarder and Activision have finally announced Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2, a full-blown remaster of the first two titles in the long-running franchise. Created at Vicarious Visions (Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy), the project is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (exclusively via the Epic Games Store) on September 4, 2020.
According to the publisher, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will "blend all the original levels, pro-skaters, old-school tricks and more that gamers remember from the ‘90s and ‘2000s with new, beautifully recreated levels." The newly revealed title will also include "blockbuster" songs from the original games.
"The original Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series is a big factor in the evolution of modern skateboarding tricks and inspiring many of the pro skaters you know and love today" Tony Hawk said in today's press release. "I’m excited to help inspire a new generation of skateboarders and gamers - and existing fans - to grow the sport even further." The upcoming production will reportedly include hugely popular features from the beloved franchise — such as revert, lip tricks, wall plant, and original multiplayer modes.
"Getting the chance to bring back the original two games which had such a meaningful impact not only on gaming, but on an entire sports genre, has been an epic experience for our team, many of whom worked on the original series," Studio Head at Vicarious Visions Jen Oneal explained. "We’re taking what you knew and loved from the original games and mixing that with enhanced creative tools which will allow gamers to invent brand new ways to play the game they love. We’re confident it will be the ultimate Tony Hawk's Pro Skater experience fans have been asking for."
Activision has also teamed-up with Jack Black, allowing us to take a closer look at the iconic Warehouse level as the Brutal Legend actor is trying to master the sports game with Hawk's help in a new video.
