Sony has released a brand-new behind-the-scenes video for Marvel’s Iron Man VR, shedding some light on developer Camouflaj's creative decisions that will allow players to channel their inner technologically advanced superhero like never before. As a reminder, Marvel's Iron Man VR is a PSVR-exclusive production.
"We wanted players to be able to explore Stark Mansion and Stark Tower, and also interact with iconic characters," Producer Aaron Whiting said. "It's a very special moment, the first time you're in VR and you're looking face to face with Pepper [Potts] and Nick Fury. You feel like you're there, standing on the bridge of the Helicarrier." Tony's girlfriend and boss won't be the only fictional heroes making a cameo in Iron Man VR, as its main bad guy is The Ghost, the primary antagonist of Ant-Man and the Wasp.
Battling The Ghost won't be easy, and upgrading Tony's armours in his garage — customising them will also be an option (although the game has a first-person perspective) — will be necessary to defeat the criminal.
Quite interestingly, the Iron Man game was originally supposed to make its debut on February 28, but Sony had delayed it to May 15, only to later push it back to July 3, its current (and hopefully final) release date.
With Marvel's Iron Man VR finally launching next month, we will definitely learn a whole lot more about the long-awaited title in the near future. In the meantime, take a look at the aforementioned video right now:
Don the PlayStation VR headset to suit up as the Armored Avenger in an original Iron Man adventure! Tony Stark has retired from making weapons and instead creates technology used to battle evil as Iron Man. After several years as a world-famous Super Hero, Tony is attacked by the mysterious Ghost, a hacker and anti-corporate activist who repurposes old Stark Industries weapons. In her efforts to topple his empire, Ghost attacks Stark’s corporate locations around the world, leading to ever-escalating stakes and a final showdown.
Marvel's Iron Man VR is coming to PS VR on July 3, 2020.
