MIRROR'S EDGE Meets SYSTEM SHOCK in Nearly 20 Minutes of Intense GHOSTRUNNER Footage
Mechanic: Bartosz Sobczak
One More Level's Ghostrunner has a clear shot at becoming one of the most pleasant surprises of the year, effortlessly mixing the gameplay mechanics of Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge, System Shock, and Superhot.
Ghostrunner is set in a cyberpunk world ruled by nefarious, shadowy corporations that have no regard for human life. In the 3D Realms–produced project, the player takes on the role of a cybernetically enhanced daredevil — who's way more agile than his opponents — and try to reach the top of a mysterious tower.
Just like Mirror's Edge, Ghostrunner is a first-person adventure featuring a whole lot of running and doing whatever it takes to maintain your momentum and flow. Unfortunately, the main protagonist is a fragile creature, so a single bullet fired by an enemy is more than enough to kill the hero and ruin your progress.
Thankfully, the titular character possesses the immensely useful ability to slow down time — even mid-air — giving you a chance to figure out your next few moves, or simply jump behind your opponent's back and practise your one-hit-one-kill skills. Although Ghostrunner will be published by 505 Games sometime this year, you don't have to wait to test your reflexes, as its highly popular demo is now available on Steam.
To learn more about Ghostrunner, take a look at nearly 20 minutes of pure footage from the game in the all-new video — accompanied by commentary from Game Director Radosław Ratusznik — down below:
Enter an intense cyberpunk world and experience fierce, dynamic combat! Conquer your enemies in the physical world and in cyberspace. Hunt for answers in humanity’s last remaining shelter. Ascend humanity’s last remaining shelter, a great tower-city. The tower is torn by violence, poverty, and chaos. Conquer your enemies, discover the secrets of the superstructure and your own origin and obtain the power to challenge The Keymaster.
Ghostrunner is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam) in 2020; will arrive on Nintendo Switch at a later date.
