Sucker Punch's GHOST OF TSUSHIMA Officially Goes Gold and Gets Wonderful Series of Posters

Ghost of Tsushima — PlayStation 4's next major exclusive after The Last of Us Part II — was supposed to make its debut this Friday, but the good news is that the open-world title has gone gold and is still on track to launch on its new July 17 release date. The project was delayed in April due to the ongoing pandemic.

"We’re thrilled to announce that Ghost Of Tsushima has gone gold," Sucker Punch said on Twitter. "This is the culmination of years of hard work from our team and we can’t wait to get it into your hands on July 17!" As a reminder, the sandbox was announced at the Paris Games Week event back in October 2017.

Developed by the renowned creators of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus and Infamous Second Son, Ghost Of Tsushima is an original adventure set in the harsh reality of feudal Japan (in the year 1274, to be exact). In the long-awaited sandbox, players will take on the role of samurai warrior Jin Sakai and embark on a long journey to somehow stop the first wave of the Mongol assault before they conquer his homeland.

To celebrate the game's fast-approaching launch day, Sony has released a series of truly spectacular posters for the ambitious title, designed by Afro Samurai illustrator Takashi Okazaki. "I love to create things I myself want to see or be passionate about," the award-winning artist explained on the PlayStation Blog. "Ultimately, I love it when I see or hear people get passionate through my work. Even before I was offered the opportunity to collaborate, Ghost of Tsushima was something that captured my heart. I love “Gekiga” style mangas, and Ghost of Tsushima had a similar vibe to it. I took some inspiration from this, and took on the challenge of incorporating it into my work which I hope you’ll enjoy!"

With Ghost of Tsushima arriving next month, take a look at the wonderful posters for the game down below:

The year is 1274. Samurai warriors are the legendary defenders of Japan—until the fearsome Mongol Empire invades the island of Tsushima, wreaking havoc and conquering the local population. As one of the last surviving samurai, you rise from the ashes to fight back. But honorable tactics won’t lead you to victory. You must move beyond your samurai traditions to forge a new way of fighting—the way of the Ghost—as you wage an unconventional war for the freedom of Japan.

Ghost of Tsushima is coming to PlayStation 4 on July 17, 2020.
