To celebrate SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated's release, THQ Nordic has shared an action-packed launch trailer for the new remake of the 2003 classic, putting the stoplight on SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy's great adventure. The platformer is now available for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
Purple Lamp Studios' take on SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom includes not only the enhanced base game, but also a new online mode (it basically is a variation on Gears of War–esuqe horde mode for two players) and cut content from the original game, such as a boss battle with Robo-Squidward.
Although many players have already fallen in love with SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated — it is currently sitting at a great 91% user score on Metacrtic — some critics don't seem to be very happy with the remake, with GameSpot and IGN giving it very low scores (2/10 and 5/10, respectively).
Despite its noticeable flaws, SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated still is one of the very few 3D platformer games launching this year — with Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time coming in October — so fans of the nearly forgotten genre (and the titular hero) should definitely give it a fair shot.
Take a look at the launch trailer for SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrate down below:
Are you ready, kids? The cult classic is back, faithfully remade in spongetastic splendor! Play as SpongeBob, Patrick and Sandy and show the evil Plankton that crime pays even less than Mr. Krabs. Want to save Bikini Bottom from lots of rampant robots with your mighty bubbles? Of course you do! Want to underpants bungee jump? Why wouldn't you! Want to join forces in a brand new multiplayer mode? The battle is on!
Spongebob Squarepants Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is currently available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and GOG).
