After months of waiting, 5 Lives Studios' original take on the survival genre will release for PS4, XBO, NS, and PC at the end of August, and if you just can't wait to play Windbound, GameSpot has shared over 20 minutes of new gameplay footage from the title. As a reminder, the role-playing game was announced back in April.
In the fast-approaching Breath of the Wild–inspired project, the player takes on the role of Kara, a young warrior who finds herself shipwrecked in unknown waters. To survive on the picturesque Forbidden Islands and find the way home, the heroine will have to quickly master her hunting, crafting, and exploration skills.
According to publisher Deep Silver, Windbound features "nomadic hunting and exploration combined with custom boat building and an immersive sailing experience. Windbound provides endless rogue-like replayability options thanks to the procedural world, dynamic wildlife & modular boat crafting."
When it comes to the new footage, it spotlights the title's core mechanics: discovering an uncharted island, exploring the surface and gathering resources, upgrading Kara's boat, and embarking on a new adventure.
Considering that Windbound will make its debut next month, we will definitely learn a whole lot more about the survival game in the coming weeks. In the meantime, take a look at the brand-new video down below:
The Forbidden Islands are Calling, Unlock their Secrets. Shipwrecked alone on an uncharted island, explore, adapt and navigate the land and perilous seas to stay alive. As Kara, you are a warrior, caught at sea in a fierce storm, adrift from your tribe. Thrown from your boat, at the mercy of the turbulent waters, you are tossed on to the shores of the Forbidden Island, a mysterious paradise.
Windbound is coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC (via Steam and the EGS) on August 28, 2020.
