Quite unexpectedly, Warsaw-based developer and publisher PlayWay has revealed a sequel to CreativeForge Games' espionage thriller Phantom Doctrine, one of the best-reviewed turn-based strategy games of 2018.
Although the first trailer for Phantom Doctrine 2: The Cabal will be unveiled on July 23, PlayWay has already shared some details on the title that will give players a chance to fight against various intelligence agencies all around the world, "from exotic rainforests and secluded corners to bustling large metropolises."
For those unfamiliar with the Phantom Doctrine world, The Cabal is a secret organisation that has one goal: "preventing a global conspiracy that seeks to pit leader against leader, and nation against nation."
Unfortunately for fans of the 2018 game, the sequel is not being developed by CreativeForge Games, as a number of key employees were let go all at once after Phantom Doctrine's commercial underperformance.
Due to the game's weak sales — the studio has sold only 100,000 copies since its initial launch in August 2018 — The Cabal is produced by an external team. As a friendly reminder, Phantom Doctrine — designed by the crew responsible for Hard West and Ancient Space — is available for PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC.
