JUST CAUSE Movie Will Be Directed by STUBER Helmer and Inspired by ROMANCING THE STONE

Although we've been hearing about various movies based on Avalanche Studios' Just Cause franchise since 2010, it seems that the Constantin Film–produced adaptation of the explosive series will come to fruition.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Just Cause will be directed by Michael Dowse (The F Word, Stuber) and written by Derek Kolstad (John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier), who's also producing the picture alongside Constantin’s Robert Kulzer and Prime Universe Films' Adrian Askarieh.

Just like the games, Dowse's Just Cause will be a wild, over-the-top ride — and what's even better, the movie version of Rico Rodriguez — who was supposed to be played by Jason Momoa at one point — will use his iconic grappling hook and wing-suit to take down the shady mercenary group known as the Black Hand.

Quite surprisingly, the Just Cause movie will reportedly be inspired by Robert Zemeckis' classic Romancing the Stone. Unfortunately, it's not clear what it actually means, as story details are being kept under wraps.

It's worth remembering that Just Cause is not the only video game movie Constantin is working on, as the studio is also developing the Resident Evil reboot and Monster Hunter, which has been delayed to 2021.
