Grounded and The Outer Worlds: Peril on Gorgon are not the only major projects Obsidian Entertainment is developing, as Microsoft officially revealed Avowed at its last week's Xbox Games Showcase digital show.
At first glance, Avowed seems to be Obsidian's answer to The Elder Scrolls. According to Microsoft, the title is an "epic, first-person RPG set in the fantasy world of Eora" — which debuted in 2015's Pillars of Eternity.
That's right, Obsidian seems to be building its own shared universe that will be primarily set in Eora, with the newly revealed Pillars of Eternity spin-off coming exclusively to Xbox Series X and PC sometime in the future.
Considering that Obsidian is now part of Microsoft's in-house Xbox Game Studios family, it's safe to say that Avowed won't arrive on PlayStation 5 anytime soon (if at all). Thankfully, the Alpha Protocol team's ambitious spiritual successor to Dark Messiah of Might & Magic will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
Avowed is shaping up to be Obsidian's biggest project since 2010's Fallout: New Vegas, so it could be a while before we hear anything concrete about the game. In the meantime, check out its reveal trailer down below:
