Polish game developer and publisher Gaming Factory has officially announced Lands of Raynar, a completely new RTS/RPG hybrid that will make its debut on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and PC at some point in 2022.
Developed by DeSand (WoodZone), the upcoming first-person game will give you the chance to assume the role of Karia, a survivor living in a beautiful — but ruined — world inhabited by various creatures inspired by Celtic and Slavic mythology. In Lands of Raynar, your main quest will be relatively simple — finding Mórrí, "a mythical creature of unknown origin." During her journey, the hero will be accompanied by a fawn, Ivy.
According to DeSand CEO Jakub Struś, the Polish-German developer's main goal for their original next-gen production is to combine "a rich and open world with an engaging and comprehensive story. Lands of Raynar is a unique adventure set in mystical realities and full of ancient secrets. We are creating a world that is meant to fascinate on many different levels. The main storyline will also be equally mysterious and unique, and the story will evoke very different emotions in the players. References to European mythology will also appear in many places, including mainly Celtic and Slavic mythology."
"Lands of Raynar is another highly unique project in our publishing portfolio. I am convinced that it is one of the more unique proposals that will make its way to the market over the next few years. Such a mix of genres, supplemented also by brand new solutions, is something so far unheard of," Gaming Factory CEO Mateusz Adamkiewicz added.
Although DeSand has been working on Lands of Raynar for quite some time now, the European developer is still not sure if their biggest project to date will be available for Nintendo Switch — but it's a possibility.
Considering that Lands of Raynar will launch in 2022 at the earliest, it may be a while before we learn more about the title. Without further ado, take a look at the first screenshots and trailer for the game down below:
