Hardsuit Labs' Sequel to 2004's VAMPIRE: THE MASQUERADE - BLOODLINES Has Been Delayed to 2021
The long-delayed sequel to one of the best-reviewed RPGs of all time won't arrive anytime soon, as Paradox Interactive has officially announced that Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been delayed to 2021.
That's right, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 — which was first revealed back in March 2019 with a tentative release date of Q1 2020 — is yet another big-budget video game that won't launch this year as originally planned, joining Halo Infinite, Atomic Heart, Psychonauts 2, and possibly even Dying Light 2.
According to Hardsuit Labs CEO Andy Kipling and Paradox Interactive Brand Manager Jakob Munthe, their main goal "has always been to deliver the best game possible, to immerse you into a Seattle re-imagined in the World of Darkness, and deliver a worthy successor to the original Bloodlines game."
"Due to the quality bar and ambitions we have set for ourselves, we have made the difficult decision that we need more time. This means that our goal to release in 2020 is no longer possible. Moving launch is one of the changes we are making to ensure the best player experience possible," they said.
Although Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 has been pushed back, fans of the vampire-infested world should be happy to hear that Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York will still release in 2020.
As a reminder, Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 & Vampire: The Masquerade - Shadows of New York are not the only games set in the most popular World of Darkness realm currently in the works, as Big Bad Wolf's Vampire: The Masquerade - Swansong emerged from the shadows at July's Nacon Connect event.
Enter the World of Darkness and rise through vampire society. Experience Seattle - a city full of alluring, dangerous, characters and factions. You are dead now but stronger, quicker, more alluring and with potential for so much more. Choose to be brutal and unflinching or cultured and seductive. Use charm, cunning, terror and sheer will to rise through vampire society. What monster will you be?
Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2 is coming to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC (via Steam, GOG and the EGS) in 2021.
