Movie Adaptation of Campo Santo's Walking Simulator FIREWATCH Is in the Works at Snoot Entertainment
Snoot Entertainment — indie producer behind The Guest and Little Monsters — and Bellevue-based game developer Campo Santo are working on a film — and maybe even a TV series — based on 2016's Firewatch.
The long-awaited movie inspired by one of the best-reviewed walking simulators in the genre's history — which was officially announced by the studio itself nearly four years ago — will now be produced by Snoot Entertainment's Keith Calder and Jess Wu Calder, and also Sean Vanaman and Jake Rodkin for Campo Santo.
"Firewatch is a stunning accomplishment, a beautiful and heartbreaking piece of art," Calder said. "I’m delighted that Sean and Jake are letting us ruin [the] game by turning it into a movie [or] TV show."
"Jess and Keith are hard-working and visionary film producers with impeccable taste in video games," Vanaman added. "Not unlike when we met Joe Drake and the team at Good Universe in 2016, we knew in our first conversation with Jess and Keith that they would make great partners. We have no doubt in their expertise, their taste and their passion and assume that our experience as so-so game developers will make us first-rate producing partners," the award-winning developer concluded.
It's worth remembering that the movie based on Firewatch is not the only project Campo Santo is working on — but their all-new game probably won't be In the Valley of Gods, as it has been put on hold by Valve.
