Netflix's 8-Episode RESIDENT EVIL TV Series Will Be Focused on Albert Wesker's Children

Netflix has confirmed that the long-rumoured Resident Evil TV series is a real thing — and it will introduce two original characters: Jade and Billie Wesker, the 14-year-old daughters of the franchise's main bad guy.

The live-action show will officially consists of eight one-hour episodes — which confirms recent rumours — telling a pulse-pounding story across two timelines. In the first one, Albert's children try to get used to living in New Raccoon City — but the more they explore the corporate town, the more they discover that the city — and their father — are hiding terrifying secrets that could threaten the world as they know it.

In the other timeline, the apocalypse has already happened. In the future, only 15 million people survived the Umbrella Corporation's experiments, which also means that Jade — our third protagonist — will face 6 billion zombies on her quest to deal with the ghosts of the past involving her sister, her father, and herself.

The long-awaited TV series will be overseen by Supernatural Co-Showrunner Andrew Dabb, who will also exec produce alongside Constantin Film's Robert Kulzer and Oliver Berben and Marry Leah Sutton. The first two episodes of Netflix's Resident Evil will be directed by Bronwen Hughes (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul).

"Resident Evil is my favorite game of all time," the producer said. "I'm incredibly excited to tell a new chapter in this amazing story and bring the first-ever Resident Evil series to Netflix members around the world. For every type of Resident Evil fan, including those joining us for the first time, the series will be complete with a lot of old friends, and some things [...] people have never seen before."

It's worth remembering that Netflix's Resident Evil is not the only project set in the Capcom-created universe Constantin Film is working on, as the German studio is also producing a reboot of the film series, which will reportedly shine a new light on Claire and Chris Redfield, Jill Valentine, Leon S. Kennedy, and Ada Wong.
