Tawna Is No Damsel in Distress in Latest CRASH BANDICOOT 4: IT’S ABOUT TIME Gameplay Footage

Activision has officially confirmed that all Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time players will have a chance to put an end to Dr. N. Tropy and Neo Cortex's shady plans as the fan-favourite character's old flame, Tawna.

"Appearing only in the first game of the trilogy as Crash’s girlfriend, Tawna was the damsel in distress archetype and we never got to really learn much about her," Art Director Josh Nadelberg said. "Early on in Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time, Crash and Coco cross paths with a Tawna from what we at Toys For Bob have been calling the “Tawnaverse,” an alternate dimension where she is the hero in her own story. It gave us the opportunity to rethink Tawna and establish a clear new voice for her in Crash 4."

To reimagine Tawna for a new generation, Toys for Bob (Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy) and Beenox (Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled) have completely changed her appearance, introducing a more fierce version of the hero. "This Tawna is an experienced adventurer, a daring, driven, and confident hero," he added. "She needed to exude strength and dexterity, so we looked towards [...] athletic bodies as inspiration for her physique. She is a lone wolf who likes to think that she doesn’t need anyone’s help, and we wanted that to come across in all aspects of her look, from her outfit to her range of expressions."

It's worth remembering that Tawna and Crash won't be the only playable characters in the long-awaited Crash Bandicoot: Warped sequel, as fans will also be able to assume control of Neo Cortex & Dingodile.

That's not all, as the publisher has also confirmed that those who pre-order Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time digitally will get access to the fast-approaching 3D platformer's demo, available on September 16.
