OUTRIDERS Gets February 2021 Release Date; Will Support Cross-Play on All Platforms
Square Enix has officially confirmed that Outriders will be released for Xbox One, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, and PC on the 2nd of February, with its Google Stadia version launching sometime next year.
Although the shooter was supposed to arrive later this year, it's no longer the case. "It had been our full intention to deliver Outriders to you within the Holiday 2020 season," Community Manager Toby Palm said. "COVID-19 has [...] affected our operations over the past months, but the teams have all worked extremely hard to adapt to changing circumstances. While the core game is now in a largely complete state, our testing operations were [...] among the most affected by the work-process-restructuring caused by the novel coronavirus. To that end, we need a bit more time to get it right and ensure that the Outriders experience will be as smooth and issue-free as it possibly can be when we launch."
The wait will be a little longer, but the fact that Outriders won't make its debut this holiday season definitely is good news for literally everyone, as it will allow the Polish team to... well, polish their first major project since 2013's Gears of War: Judgement at their own pace, and also avoid a potential clash with guaranteed hits like Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, Gods & Monsters, and Cyberpunk 2077.
The PC edition of People Can Fly's looter shooter will be available on both Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Furthermore, Outriders will support cross-play on all platforms, allowing all players to enjoy killing monsters on the alien planet of Enoch together, no matter the platform of their choice. It's worth remembering that you will be able to experience everything the cross-gen project has to offer with up to two friends in co-op.
