READY PLAYER ONE–Inspired GAMEDEC Has Been Pushed Back to 2021, Anshar Studios Announces
Gamedec was supposed to arrive on PC (via Steam and GOG) sometime this year, but it's no longer the case, as Katowice-based game developer and publisher Anshar Studios has officially delayed its debut until 2021.
Said role-playing game set in the world created by Polish writer Marcin S. Przybyłek will now release on PC at some point next year, with its Nintendo Switch version launching at a later date. Anshar Studios has also revealed that their biggest project to date will be available on other consoles, possibly PS4, PS5, XBO & XS.
According to Anshar, the decision to delay Gamedec wasn't easy, but it will allow the development team to finish the game at their own pace — and also avoid extreme crunch — while taking a closer look at all the suggestions Anshar has gathered so far from fans of the books and Planescape: Torment–like video games.
"We promise to make the most of the time we are asking for," the award-winning team behind Telefrag VR and Detached said today. "We are still fixing the dialogues before we will send them to the final translation, Most of the locations in Gamedec are done, but we are still iterating many factors of the meta-scenario and polishing the narrative branching. There is also a window for user-created input - we promised a space to deliver community-made assets that will find their place in the final build of the game [graffiti, voice recordings, naming NPCs or companies), and it is still a work in progress."
Although Gamedec has been pushed back, the studio is still planning to release 2 already announced (and unlocked during the title's successful Kickstarter campaign) DLC — featuring worlds inspired by IMGN.PRO's Seven: The Days Long Gone and H. P. Lovecraft's The Call of Cthulhu — during its post-launch phase, for free.
