True Evil Never Dies in 17 Minutes of Pulse-Pounding AMNESIA: REBIRTH Gameplay Footage

The PlayStation Underground crew has released nearly 20 minutes of never-before-seen Amnesia: Rebirth gameplay footage, putting the spotlight on Frictional Games' truly terrifying version of the Algerian desert.

Although Amnesia: Rebirth is a sequel to The Dark Descent — as Frictional has seemingly decided to ignore The Chinese Room's Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs — it will bring a bunch of brand-new features to the table.

For example, the follow-up introduces a new sanity system, which will now be one of most pivotal systems of the title. If you stay in the dark a bit too long or fail to avoid various monsters, the main hero will have to overcome her panic attacks to move forward — and it can take her a few precious seconds to shake it off.

With Amnesia: Rebirth finally coming to PlayStation 4 and PC later this month — this Tuesday, to be exact — fans of 2010's Amnesia: The Dark Descent and 2015's SOMA will be able to experience the pulse-pounding glory of Frictional's next big thing in the very near future. Better have your diapers ready (you'll need them).

Be sure to take a look at the aforementioned gameplay footage from Amnesia: Rebirth — featuring Creative Director Thomas Grip's commentary — and a new trailer focused on the story and environment down below:
