BioWare Officially Announces MASS EFFECT 5 and MASS EFFECT LEGENDARY EDITION

The long wait is finally over, as the team at BioWare has finally announced Mass Effect Legendary Edition, an enhanced version of the award-winning trilogy that will arrive on PS4, PS5, XBO, XS and PC in Spring 2021.

As expected, Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include base content and DLC from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3 — with a bunch of new weapons and armours. The upcoming title will be optimised for 4K.

Unfortunately, the original multiplayer mode of the threequel won't be part of Mass Effect Legendary Edition.

"For many months now, our team at BioWare has been hard at work updating the textures, shaders, models, effects, and technical features of three enormous games," BioWare's General Manager Casey Hudson said. "Our goal was not to remake or reimagine the original games, but to modernize the experience so that fans and new players can experience the original work in its best possible form."

"It’s been amazing to see the adventures of Shepard take on new life in super-sharp resolution, faster framerates, and beautiful visual enhancements. As game developers, we always hope that our games will transcend their original platforms. Having the opportunity to remaster the trilogy means that the fruits of a decade of our work will live on [and be] experienced better [...] than ever before," he added.

That's not all, as Hudson has also confirmed that the long-awaited next entry in BioWare's greatest franchise is real. According to the renowned creative director, this newly revealed follow-up to Mass Effect: Andromeda is being created by "a veteran team," suggesting that at least several key figures responsible for the trilogy are helping the company bring Mass Effect 5 to life. To accompany the announcement, the crew has released a unique piece of concept art featuring four characters — including a Salarian and a Drell — standing next to a spaceship — called the Mud Skipper (at least according to the image file's name) — on a desert planet.

While we're patiently waiting for more details about both Mass Effect 5 and Mass Effect Legendary Edition, take a look at the first concept art for the new game and the beautiful key art for the remaster down below:
