ELDEN RING Is Hidetaka Miyazaki’s Most Ambitious Game Yet, Xbox Head Phil Spencer Says
During a brand-new interview with GameSpot, Head of Xbox Phil Spencer assured all worried fans that From Software's long-awaited Elden Ring is still in the works — and it's reportedly going to be well worth the wait.
"I've seen actually quite a bit, I've played quite a bit," Spencer said. While he did not reveal any concrete details about his experience, he went on to call it Hidetaka Miyazaki's (Dark Souls) most ambitious game yet.
"As somebody who's played all of Miyazaki's games over at least the last decade, this is clearly the most ambitious game that he's done," Spencer told GameSpot. "I mean, I love his games, but seeing some of the gameplay mechanics stuff that he's tackling, he and the team are tackling this time, of the setting, working with another creator [George R.R. Martin] in terms of story. I love it," he added.
Although Elden Ring was announced a good while ago — at E3 2019, to be exact — we still know very little about FromSoftware's next big project, which is being scored by Yuka Kitamura (Bloodborne, Dark Souls III).
Thankfully, it may change sooner rather than later. Considering that the studio's latest production — Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice — was first teased at The Game Awards 2017 and actually won the prestigious Game of the Year award at last year's show, chances are that Elden Ring will be showcased at TGA 2020 (on Dec. 11).
