HOUSE OF ASHES Is a New Entry in THE DARK PICTURES Series Set During the Iraq War

Bandai Namco has revealed The Dark Pictures: House of Ashes, yet another Supermassive Games–developed horror game that will give you the opportunity to decide the fate of five characters facing impossible odds.
House of Ashes will take place during the Iraq War. According to the publisher, it will be focused mostly on CIA field operative Rachel King — portrayed by Ashley Tisdale (High School Musical 3: Senior Year, Phineas and Ferb) — who will embark on a pulse-pounding adventure to explore a strange underground chemical weapons facility in the shadow of the Zagros Mountains. Obviously, something will go terribly wrong, and King (and her unit) will be forced to find a way to escape before ancient and unearthly creatures kill them.
House of Ashes will be released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, and PC in 2021.
Just like the first two entries in The Dark Pictures series, the upcoming title will feature two unique co-op modes: Shared Story (it gives you a chance to... well, share your story with a friend online) and Movie Night (allowing up to five fans of couch co-op to do their very best to survive in an offline "pass-the-pad" mode).
"We are thrilled to reveal this third game within The Dark Pictures Anthology," Supermassive Games CEO Pete Samuels said. "Like the previous stories, Man Of Medan and Little Hope, House of Ashes will bring a brand-new story and cast of characters to players, with its own unique twists and turns, and a new threat for the characters to face. We can’t wait to share more details about the story," he added.
Considering that both Man Of Medan and Little Hope were highly entertaining — even if surprisingly uneven and short — adventures, fans of horror movies like Underground and As Above, So Below should definitely keep an eye on House of Ashes.
