CI Games on Track to Release LORDS OF THE FALLEN 2 in 2022; Original Has Sold 3 Million Units
We still know next to nothing about CI Games' much-anticipated — and quite troubled — sequel to Lords of the Fallen, but the good news is that the long-awaited project now has a tentative release date of 2022.
According to CI Games (via the Polish Press Agency), Lords of the Fallen 2 will make its debut at some point next year. It's probably worth remembering that the long-delayed project has morphed into a fully fledged next-gen production, and it will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S/X and PC. To successfully bring the masocore title to market, the Warsaw-based studio is planning to join forces with "a leading distributor."
Unlike the original game — which was co-created by CI Games and Deck13 — Lords of the Fallen 2 is being made by Hexworks, a newly opened studio established for the purpose of finishing the difficult production.
Considering the original's strong sales performance — Lords of the Fallen has sold more than 3 million units thus far — its follow-up might very well become CI Games' biggest — and most profitable — offering when it's all said and done. As a reminder, the soulslike was supposed to complete production by the end of 2017.
The Polish video game developer and publisher has also revealed that their first Sniper: Ghost Warrior spin-off — 2019's Sniper Ghost Warrior Contracts — has shipped well over 1 million copies worldwide. Fans of said first-person shooter should be happy to hear that its sequel will be hitting store shelves by April 2021.
