Electronic Arts has finally shared a new trailer for Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, a new and improved version of the beloved trilogy that will feature a plethora of big graphical improvements — including 4K and 60FPS support on PC and next-gen consoles. Although the studio was initially thinking about using Unreal Engine 4 to bring the project to life, EA ultimately decided to stick with its revamped predecessor due to the technical limitations of the original games.
BioWare has officially confirmed that Mass Effect Legendary Edition will be available for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC (via Steam and Origin) on May 14, 2021. The bundle will be priced at $59.99 and playable on next-gen consoles — namely PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S/X — via backward compatibility.
Although EA has not confirmed a Nintendo Switch version of the bundle just yet, Legendary Edition project director Mac Walters did suggest that said port is a valid possibility in an official interview with Eurogamer.
Unfortunately, Mass Effect Legendary Edition won't feature any online modes — that's right, Mass Effect 3's multiplayer component will also will be ditched — or additional story beats. The game's reveal trailer also indicates that the controversial endings of the threequel will remain pretty much the same in the remaster.
Mass Effect Legendary Edition will include the Mass Effect trilogy and the following DLC, extra weapons, and armour packs: Bring Down the Sky, Genesis, Zaeed – The Price of Revenge, Kasumi – Stolen Memory, Lair of the Shadow Broker, Firewalker Pack, Overlord, Normandy Crash Site, Arrival, Genesis 2, From Ashes, Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, Leviathan, Omega, Citadel, Equalizer Pack, Aegis Pack, Firepower Pack, Cerberus Weapons and Armor, Arc Projector, ME2 Alternate Appearance Pack 1, ME2 Alternate Appearance Pack 2, ME3 Alternate Appearance Pack 1, Firefight Pack, Groundside Resistance Pack, Recon Operations Pack, Collector's Weapon and Armor, Terminus Weapon and Armor, M-21 Incisor, Blood Dragon Armor, Inferno Armor, Recon Hood, Sentry Interface, Umbra Visor, N7 Warfare Gear, AT-12 Raider, Chakram, Launcher, M-55 Argus, M-90 Indra, Reckoner Knight Armor, and finally N7 Collector's Edition Pack.
With Mass Effect Legendary Edition finally arriving in the not-too-distant future, we'll surely learn a whole lot more about the project in the coming weeks. In the meantime, take a closer look at this all-new reveal trailer and four never-before-seen screenshots down below:
