IO Interactive's PROJECT 007 Has a Third-Person Perspective and All-New AI System

IO Interactive is hiring, and new job descriptions posted on the studio's career site have revealed some new details about Project 007, the first major video game starring the beloved MI6 agent since 2010's James Bond 007: Blood Stone. You read that absolutely right, we haven't had a new 007 video game in over a decade.

It turns out that Project 007 is a third-person action game, which means it should be more similar to Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid than, let's say, stealth games with the first-person camera like Prey and Dishonored

Although this information shouldn't come as too much of a surprise — as IO Interactive's own Hitman games are also third-person actioners with a heavy emphasis on stealth — those expecting another GoldenEye 007 — which was a full-blown (and quite revolutionary) first-person shooter — may be disappointed by the news.

Additionally, these job descriptions reveal that the upcoming title will feature the company's "new AI system."

IO Interactive's Project 007 was announced back in November with a short teaser trailer paying homage to the iconic gun barrel sequence featured in nearly every James Bond movie ever made. Sadly, it will probably be a good while before we get a chance to play it, as the ambitious project doesn't even have an official title yet.

The Danish video game developer and publisher's most recent game — Hitman 3 — arrived on both last and current-gen consoles (and PC) in January. The title has received very positive reviews from players and critics alike — with some calling it 2021's first GOTY contender — so here's hoping Project 007 is also a sure-fire hit.
